European Commission publishes guidelines on the prudent use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine

The EC has issued guidance document 2015/C 299/04 for all parties involved the manufacture, sale and use of veterinary antimicrobials (Link). The responsibilities for the prudent use of veterinary antimicrobials by the following parties are specified:

• Prescriber
• Administrator of the antimicrobial
• Pharmaceutical industry, pharmacists, retailers and wholesalers
• Feed business operators
• Food business operators
• Veterinary faculties and agricultural schools
• Veterinary professional associations
• Industry stakeholder associations
• Farmers' associations
• Competent authorities
• Laboratories
