European Commission publishes progress report on the action plan against the rising threats from Antimicrobial Resistance

This progress report (full report here) gives an update on the European actions being implemented in the context of antimicrobial resistance including:

• Strengthening the regulatory framework on veterinary medicines and on medicated feed
• Introducing recommendations for prudent use in veterinary medicine
• Adopting a proposal for an EU Animal Health Law
• Promoting efforts to analyse the need for new antibiotics into veterinary medicine
• Strengthening surveillance systems on AMR and antimicrobial consumption in veterinary medicine
