EC enforces CVMP recommendation to withdraw MAs for the combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin

16 September, 2016

Drugs with the combination of lincomycin and spectinomycin, which is currently being used against a number of diseases in pigs and poultry, are to be de-registered following the negative opinion reached by the CVMP during assessment in an Article 35 procedure. The reason for the decision is that the use of the pharmaceutical forms for mixing in feed poses a risk for development of resistance among intestinal bacteria (Link).
